Does anyone know what the sport bike is that covers the rider?
Q. I've heard of a prototype bike that has some sort of cover for the rider, so it eliminates the any wind resistance from the rider, however I cant find any forums or pictures of it. I've heard it was ducati who made it, but that didnt help in my search at all. Please have a link if you have any info, thanks. negative, dmatryxx... its cheaper than $80k haha

Is MotoGuzzi 1100 sport any good for a new rider?
Q. I've just passed my bike test and like the look of the guzzi 1100 sport but my mate reckons they are very unreliable and overweight.I know they ain't as good as latest jap bikes but how good/bad are they?
Asked by jane k - Mon Feb 5 05:34:18 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Modern Guzzis are actually pretty good bikes. The older ones did have problems with their electrical systems and the build quality was a bit poor - I know, I owned 4 four the cantankerous beasts! However, they are very quirky and do not ride like most other bikes. The transverse V-twin can make them torque steer at low speeds, and the hefty Cardan shaft final drive can catch out unwary riders when slowing down quickly (it can cause backlash through the transmission). The V1100 Sport is a great bike and will stand out in a crowd, but it's not really suitable for a new rider with little experience. Having said, that, if you can get a test-drive (never buy a bike without a test-drive...), try one and see.

Can Ariat Sport Low Rider Breeches be worn with paddock boots and half chaps?
Q. I am interested in buying these breeches. However, I know that breeches are typically worn with tall boots and not paddock boots/half chaps. I have seen some breeches, though, that are a bit longer (and I'm only 5'1) and can be worn with paddock boots/half chaps, anyway. Is anybody familiar with these breeches? Any idea if they'll work for me without tall boots? in particular, i was wondering whether these breeches would be too short because i've heard that breeches typically end mid-calf.

What is up with the sport bike riders?
Q. It is funny watching the young sport bike riders out there trying to show off. Usually people in their teens or 20s. When they stop at a red light, they look around at everyone in the cars like they are so cool. Are you having an identity crisis? Come on, the people in their cars do not know who you are so why are you trying to show off for people you will never know. LOL. Also, you get all of this gear that matches your bike so that you will "look" cool/pretty riding around. Give me a break. You are causing us all to doubt your heterosexuality. Ride your bike because you want decent transportation, not because you want to try to impress people or use it as a fashion statement. Not jealous. I could buy a sport bike tomorrow if I wanted. It… [cont.]

A. I agree with Harleys making too much noise, but when you say get a 600 first? An 06 250 Ninja is 3400 out the door, an 06 ZX6R is definetely over 8, thats twice the price, so I guess it all depends on how much money you have, I think the 250 is a perfect starter bike though, it is cheap, really has no power/ torque till 7k so it is very easy to start out, or any small cruiser will work, and saying that everyone is going to fall starting out is wrong, I never had training wheels, atarted out on a regular bicycle and now ride motorcycles and have never fallen:)

5'9'' rider with short inseam for tall and bulky sport bikes?
Q. I plan to get sport bikes but I can't put both my feet down flat on the 31'' seat height bikes. If i want to balance well, I need to put 1 foot down and lean. Because if I don't I end up tip-toeing on the taller bikes such as the R6 and R1. I do this on tall dirt bikes, but would it be more difficult to do on sport bikes since they're heavier? What are the pros and cons?

A. A sports bike has a wider seat. My wife is 5'3" and she could not tip toe on my bike. Inorder to be safe you should rely be able to put both feet down. We found a way to fix the height on my bike. The shocks are ajustable. drops the rear about 3 inches. this bought her just the right amount of room.

Dual sport riders, what tires do you use?
Q. I'm looking for some agressive tires for the winter. HD Dunlops are like racing slicks in the snow. I have studded other brands of regular street tires on other motorcycles in the past, but I want to avoid the studs this time. They slide a little too much on bare tarmac. Or they gouge it. (Oops) Soft compounds should be ok in the cold. I need to fit a 19" front, and a 17" rear. David, you obviously don't know your ___ from your elbow. I've seen your your dumb answers. Go away, kid. Superman, try harder. That only got a smile, not a laugh. Ride On - I saw the Karoos last night while I was searching. Just before I wrote the question. They look ok. Sport bike riders more menacing than Harley riders?
Q. The rugged-looking, tattooed, leather-clanned Harley Davidson riders may have gotten a bad reputation with biker gangs like the Hells Angels, but as I look at it, whenever I see most people on a Harley, they are always obeying the rules of the road, being curtious to others, riding within the limit and using hand signals when turing or changing lanes. However, whenever I see guys on their sport bikes/ aka Crotch Rockets, they are the biggest pain-in-the-a$$ on the road as they are always speeding way over the limit, weave in and out of traffic without using signals and are arrogant enought to point and laugh at cops as they speed by them at 120mph. I rather have a gang of people on loud Harleys than sport bike riders on the road anytime.… [cont.]

Why do sport riders like magic markers?
Q. This weekend the rice rocket youngsters asked me and Harold to buy beer for them. Played an odd game called "beer pong" that Harold lost. I rode my 55 Pan home cause it wasn't near as drunk as I was. Harold shows up a day later with his 3-wheeler painted pink and large mammary glands drawn on his chest and had huge eyelashes with magic marker. His wife thought he was at Lu Lu's again. Question: Is this some weird bonding ritual the rice rocket guys do?

A. you posted this questing in cycling ( for bicycling) there's better section for motorcycle questions... but here's an answer anyway... Sport bikes are not good first bikes - they are actually really dangerous as first bikes. It's really a safety thing. Several similar to sports bikes - that get good recommendations as a first bike follow: Ninja 250 or 500. there's the GS500 too. buy a used one for 3 k ride it 6 months or a yr then sell it for 2800. And then buy something you really want and something you can now control. check out www.beginnerbikers.org
