From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc." Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs. The 1976 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary included only the definition regarding geek shows. This word comes from English dialect geek, geck: fool, freak; from Low German geck, from Middle Low German. The root geck still survives in Dutch gek: crazy, and in the Alsatian word Gickeleshut: geek's hat, used in carnivals. From Wikipedia under the

Q. Most of the D&D geeks I know and have known think alcohol is bad and rather kick back 32 oz. Monster energy drinks and play War Hammer? Why is this? Asked by When You See The Southern Cross - Wed Apr 22 01:13:35 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, let me first say that I play D&D and World of Darkness- like the person above me. I don't mind drinking at all- it doesn't bother me in whatever capacity that it does them. I'll take a stab in the dark and say that it's purely coincidental. It's not the fact that they play D&D, and that this causes them to not drink. No- I know plenty of others like me who have no problem consuming alcohol in general, or while we play D&D. My guess is simply that they were raised a particular way. While your D&D friends may not like alcohol, I can assure you ;) there are those of us who still do. Answered by Cupcake - Sun Sep 23 14:32:03 2007 What's the difference between the "Freaks and Geeks" dvd set and yearbook edition?
Q. i plan on buying one of the dvd sets for my sister on her birthday since it's one of her favorite shows. i tried comparing the 2 but i can't really find the answers i'm looking for. all i now is the dvd set has 6 discs and the yearbook has 8 discs. my questions are: -what's in the original 6 discs? are they just the episodes? -what does the extra 2 discs on the yearbook edition have exclusively? -i don't mind spending extra for the yearbook but is it worth it? Asked by NR - Tue Jun 16 12:39:27 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. That is the only difference I see too. I guess it is up to you wheather it is worth it or not. * Have a Good Day * ~ Don ~ Answered by donk287 - Sat Jun 20 11:00:49 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "geeks" |
