A. Your computer is fine, except it apparently has not tuner/capture card, which is the hardware you need to get to import the video into your computer, from a VHS player. You also need a DVD-Video authoring app, such as NeroVision. Windows DVD maker (you have that already) is probably fine.

I have been able to download movies from share sites but when I burn them on disc they wont play in dvd player
Q. Purchased new computer that has preloaded dvd burner programs (windows movie maker and windows dvd maker and Cyberlink dvd suite delux ) Found many share site to download movies also added codecs programs to help decode difficult (avi mpegs etc) Movies download with no problem except taking forever (four to five hours) But when I burn them on to dvd discs they will not play in my fairly new home theater dvd player, they will play fine on the computer just not on the other. I really need this to work spent too many hours and too much money to give up Please help.

A. You need to get magic iso. You can download it as a torrent from torrentscan.com (a huge torrent search engine). Use Azureus (a torrent downloader program... its free) to download them... when you click on the download torrent link choose open with Azureus. Make sure you find a good link though... Anyways you can convert whatever file you have into an iso (dvd image). Also some other good programs that are free that you can use together are dvd shrink and dvd decrypter.

A. Simply go into the NTI DVD-Maker, find the "create/make a DVD" tab and start adding files. When all the files are added, click on "Burn Disc". Make sure you have a DVD inserted as well.

How do you convert a video that was made by Windows Movie Maker (wmv file name) to something like avi or mov?
Q. I need to make a DVD of video I pulled off of a SONY camcorder. The only way I could edit and save was through Windows Movie Maker. The format that it saved the movie in doesn't work with the DVD movie burning software that I have (which is Cyberlink DVD Solution : Power 2Go). I've created many DVD's on the Power 2 Go, but never from Windows Movie Maker. I have no idea how to convert video files and would really appreciate help. Thank you!!!

A. Windows is so powerful that you can't print the program list from the Control Panel. I've wanted to do this too... Instead, I use a program like Belarc Advisor ( to print out a complete list of all applications installed. It's a very good program. Once you have the program list, go thru and figure out which programs you have media (CDs, DVDs, ...) for. Those at least you can reload. You can then go to the software vendors, to the support portions of their website and see if you can download manuals.

A. Your CPU is fast enough for Win XP. You have enough RAM. You Video Card is compatible. All checks out. It's not the best set-up but it will run the game. Edit: If this computer runs Windows Vista the CPU will be too slow. If you're thinking of buying this computer to play Sims 3 on I strongly advice against it.

A. No. I assume you're buying this from RadioShack? Most RadioShack laptops have the same garbage graphics card that will barely play even the simplest of games. Don't buy a laptop with Graphics Dedicated nvidia geForce 7150M Up to 559 MB Total Available. Doesn't matter what your screen size, RAM, or processing power is if you have a bad graphics card you won't be able to play most games (especially new ones like Spore)

A. Download "Musicmatch", purchase the "plus" upgrade. Get a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cord from Radio shack.Plug one end of cord into the headphone out of cassette player and the other end into the line in on your sound card. Go to "options"-"recorder"-"sou rce" on musicmatch player and click on line in. There is a help file which is very good in explaining the rest. Just go to Help-musicmatch jukebox help-settings and configurations-line in recording.

new laptop- which programs can i delete?
Q. So I just got a new HP laptop and, as with all pcs, it came full of miscellaneous programs/demos. For example, there are all of these media viewing/cd burning/video editting programs: CyberLink DVD Suite HP Photosmart Essential 2.5 HP QuickPlay 3.7 Mucee autoProducer 6.1 PowerDirector QuickTime Viewpoint Media Player Windows DVD Player/Movie Maker/Photo Gallery, etc. So, which programs are safe to delete and which ones are programs that will come in handy eventually? Thanks and merry Christmas and happy holidays! I'm basically just a typical computer user, but I do like to edit videos and I'm getting into photography. I also need something for burning CD's, but that's about it.

A. I worked in a gamecenter in mexico that ran the latest wow (burning crusade i think), and some 30-40 other cutting edge games w/ no problems. i cant remember all the specs but im pretty sure they were 2.5ghz (thats not duel by the way), 1mb, 120gb. wow ran like a dream, so did call of duty 2 and 4, ArmA, silkroad, ... well, you get the idea. like i said the GC had about 30 to 40 good games on EACH computer! your pretty much good for all the games out there, with a few exceptions. now why an american was working in a mexican game center, earning mexican wadgs being paid from a guy from spain, thats another story. ps just click "best answer" on the one you like.

my computer doesnt find the cd burner?
Q. Starting about 2 months ago cd burner started occasionally telling me that a blank disc needed to be inserted even though there was one (100% new, quality disc). Then it started doing it all the time. Then the PC stopped recognizing that there even was a cd burner all together (for example, double click a file > the "send to" drop-down stopped listing the burner; and WMP would tell me to "connect a burner and restart ..." when I'd click BURN. I use Nero and can perfectly copy a disc from the PC's player onto a blank in this "problem" burner. It is a Sony burner that came bundled with Cyberlink Power DVD software. I contacted Microsoft, Cyberlink and Sony, we ran all kinds of tests on the burner and they assured me that it's running… [cont.]

A. Probably time to accept the drive is dead, and buy a new one, might as well go for a DVD/RW now as well
