What ingredient of chips makes people want to eat more of them?
Q. Generally, whenever someone eats a chip, there is this feeling that you want to take another one. What is this ingredient of chips or what exactly makes people feel not satiated and urge for another chip?
Asked by kfijatas - Thu Jun 24 07:58:09 2010 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Mostly it is the oil, BUT there is nothing more tantalising than the smell of salt and vinegar wafting from hot chips.

How do I distribute 600 4-color poker chips in a home game of five card draw?
Q. I am planning a ladies monthly poker night, if we each put in twenty dollars and there are five of us, how should I split the chips up? What would be the denominations of the chips? Do you play till there is only one left with chips for the whole pot, or if its by denomination, can you split the pot at the end of the evening based on what chips everyone has?

A. **mrwonderfull - you're starting to make me dizzy with your caps lock** :\ You need to make 1 important decision - do you want this to be a Tournament or do you want this to be a straight CASH game? If you make it a tournament, you'll set up some rules so that by the end of the night, 1 person has ALL the chips. Perhaps the person that came in 2nd place wins $30 and the person that came in 1st place wins $70. (Maybe $35 for 2nd and $65 for 1st.) If you decide on a tournament, do a search for "how to set up a 5-card draw tournament". Tons of people have created many different workable ways to do this. If it were me, I'd stay with the "CASH" game. This is WAY easier, and basically what you win is what you keep. I've got friends… [cont.]

Can You Substitute Carob chips for chocolate chips in a chocolate chip cookie recipe?
Q. In all of the carob chip cook recipes I found, you must use honey, whole wheat flour ect. So I was wondering if I could just substitude carob chips into a chocolate chip cookie recipe. If im gonna make a test cookie might as well make the whole batch.
Asked by derejrcar - Mon Jun 25 13:45:22 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can certainly do carob in place of choc chips, personally I don't like them but it is a feasible substitution for choc chips. In my experience, carob is a little dryer than choc chips, maybe spray them (chill first so they don't goo together) with Pam to give them a little moisture. Also it isn't as sweet, so you might toss your Pam-coated carob chips in a little bit of sugar (sift off the excess) before you add to the cookie dough. The reason you are getting the honey, whole wheat, etc is because carob is usually considered a health food or allergy sufferers alternative to chocolate, so you found a so-called health food recipe. You can sub any of these items for their "bad" counterpart, with or without the others. I use whole wheat… [cont.]

What will neutralize pine tree chips left after a stump has been ground?
Q. I recently had two spruce trees removed and the stumps ground. Would like to plant a garden in the same area. Friends say nothing will grow until I remove all the ground stump chips. What can I cover the area with to neutralize the excess acid created as these chips decay?
Asked by Hello - Wed Oct 7 19:22:33 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the problem comes in the mulch chips using up the nitrogen in the soil in that area as they start decomposing... there will be none left for any plants... so you really must remove the chips and get a load of soil and good compost to add to the area to plant in... yes, you can use the chips later as mulch, but when you do, you'll need to add a nitrogen fertilizer to counteract the mulch's use of nitrogen ... since the mulch will only be on the surface, it won't take much from the deeper parts of the soil near the plant roots, so not much fertilizer will be needed... but a little will... the acid produced by years of pine needles can be fixed with lime, as mentioned... a pH test and a soil test will tell you exactly what's necessary...… [cont.]

How do you make tortilla chips?
Q. Today I wanted nachos but didn't have any chips. I found some soft tortillas, cut them into triangles, put some oil on them and they are now in the oven. I haven't yet found if my experiment worked or not but for future refrence I should know how to cook tortilla chips.

A. corn tortillas work best and that's how u make corn tortilla chips, flour tortillas are something different and not the same used for nachos. white or yellow- probably yellow for nachos, heat cooking oil in heavy skillet- like to deep fry- cut tortillas into triangle-like a pizza and put into hot oil, cook until crisp and drain on a pile of papertowels and salt.

What is a chocolate chip cookie without chocolate chips?
Q. A coworker and I are discussing what a cookie that would normally have chocolate chips but doesn't would be called. I say it is a plain cookie, or a plain drop cookie, based off of the style in which it is made. The coworker disagrees with this saying that it is called a "chocolate chip cookie without the chocolate chips".

A. "chocolate chip cookie without the chocolate chips" sounds incorrect because its the same as saying "a cheeseburger without the cheese". It can't be called a chocolate chip cookie PERIOD if it has no chocolate chips in it. I would say its just called a Plain Cookie.

A. They actually get torilla shells like the ones you see at the stores (corn or flour, whichever you prefer), tear them in fourths and then deep fry them in an oil fryer. I have seen this with my own eyes when I reported for a newspaper and was reviewing kitchens. They all do it the same, so try getting your favorite tortillas and a fry daddy fryer and making your own! Should taste about the same! Good luck.

What landscaping chips are safe for dogs to be around?
Q. I know some chips/mulching may contain dyes, pesticides or antifungal treatments, does anyone know of a good "pretty" reddish colored chip that would be safe for me to use in my yard around my pugs. Some have suggested rocks...I don't want rocks...some the non colored "ugly" mulching and even that may still have something poisonous to pets. There must be something that is both pretty, inexpensive and yet safe for my dogs. I appreciate any input. Thanks for your time.
Asked by CGH - Tue Sep 4 23:06:42 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can buy natural cedar. They don't treat it and it is naturally like a fungicide. But just so you know, untreated mulch loses it's pretty red color one year later. Even the treated stuff doesn't stay that nice pretty color. So keep that in mind. I got my cedar from Home Depot. The company was Western something, the cedar came in the clear bag with red lettering and it was just under 4.00 a bag . . .
