A. you basically just described berkeley, ca =]. it doesn't get much more hippie than berkeley. it's a vegan/vegetarian's paradise because there are so many specialty restaurants. it's also where the free speech movement started. i hope you get a chance to go, it's just the type of place you're looking for!
